Slough Town Challenge Cup Competition
Junior Semi-Final
Foxes 2
Cippenham Sports 1
AET (1:1 at Full Time)
Saturday 28th February 2009
Cippenham Sports bowed out at the semi-final stage with an extra time 2-1 defeat to Foxes.
The hosts went in front early on via a deflection but Cippenham fought
back as Jamie Dunning and Keith Oswald went close before Chris Cumming
levelled with a delightful lob.
Neither side were wearing their shooting boots in the second half as
Dunning grazed an upright and then he blazed wide, whilst Foxes
peppered the playground behind Cippenham Sports' goal.
Extra time ensued with Foxes regaining the lead from the penalty spot after a striker won his side the spot kick.
Cippenham flung players forward in a desperate search for an equaliser
but Foxes defended in numbers and Cippenham struggled to break them
down. Early in the second half of extra time Dunning had a
opportunity to draw his side level but a nasty bobble ruined his chance
with the resulting shot going awry.
As Cippenham piled forward, their defence became stretched and keeper
Tom Bryant was forced into making a smart save before Adam Randall
cleared an effort off the line. Despite late Cippenham pressure
Foxes held on.
